McRae, Lamerial; Gonzalez, Jennifer E.; Dominguez, Vanessa; Daire, Andrew Patrick; Liu, Xun – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2018
We examined the construction for a modified Acceptance of Couple Violence (ACV) scale administered to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer college students (N = 266) measuring intimate partner violence. We ran an exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis; results identified 1 factor for the instrument explaining 76% of the variance in…

Sessoms, John; Finney, Sara J.; Kopp, Jason P. – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2016
Academic entitlement (AE) characterizes students who believe they deserve positive academic outcomes independent of performance. Using the Academic Entitlement Questionnaire, we evaluated the longitudinal stability of the measurement and magnitude of AE. Results indicated partial measurement invariance, slight average increase in AE, and…

Kooken, Janice; Welsh, Megan E.; McCoach, D. Betsy; Johnston-Wilder, Sue; Lee, Clare – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2016
The Mathematical Resilience Scale measures students' attitudes toward studying mathematics, using three correlated factors: Value, Struggle, and Growth. The Mathematical Resilience Scale was developed and validated using exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses across three samples. Results provide a new approach to gauge the likelihood of…

Cokley, Kevin – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2015
The factor structure of the Academic Motivation Scale (AMS) was examined with a sample of 578 Black college students. A confirmatory factor analysis of the AMS was conducted. Results indicated that the hypothesized seven-factor model did not fit the data. Implications for future research with the AMS are discussed.

Hendy, Helen M.; Can, S. Hakan; Joseph, Lauren J.; Scherer, Cory R. – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2013
The University Students Leaving Relationships scale was developed to identify student concerns when contemplating dissolution of romantic relationships. Participants included 1,106 students who rated the importance of issues when deciding to leave relationships. Factor analysis produced three dimensions: Missing the Relationship, Social…

Huang, Yun-Chen; Lin, Shu-Hui – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2015
This study aimed to develop and validate the Attitude Toward Calculus Inventory (ATCI). Results from three studies are reported that establish the reliability and validity of this instrument. An examination of the factor structure confirms that student attitudes can be explained in terms of four factors: self-confidence, value, enjoyment, and…

Byrne, Zinta S.; Felker, Sydney; Vacha-Haase, Tammi; Rickard, Kathryn M. – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2011
Responses from college-age students and those 50 years and older were compared using the Attitudes Toward Women Scale and the Attitudes Toward Feminism Scale. Results from a multigroup confirmatory factor analysis showed groups differed on each scale, suggesting unidimensional scales no longer represent attitudes toward women or feminism.…

Lopez, Frederick G.; Fons-Scheyd, Alia; Bush-King, Imelda; McDermott, Ryon C. – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2011
A latent class analysis of dyadic perfectionism scores within a college sample (N = 369) identified four classes of participants. Controlling for gender and current dating status, class membership was associated with significant differences on several measures of relationship attitudes. Gender and class membership also significantly interacted in…

Kopp, Jason P.; Zinn, Tracy E.; Finney, Sara J.; Jurich, Daniel P. – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2011
Validity evidence was gathered for the Academic Entitlement Questionnaire (AEQ). After reviewing entitlement literature, items were written to cover the breadth of academic entitlement. Results provide evidence for the substantive, structural, and external aspects of validity of the AEQ. Implications for research and use of the AEQ are discussed.…

Canel-Cinarbas, Deniz; Cui, Ying; Lauridsen, Erica – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2011
The purpose of this study was to test the Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II) for factorial invariance across Turkish and U.S. college student samples. The results indicated that (a) a two-factor model has an adequate fit for both samples, thus providing evidence of configural invariance, and (b) there is a metric invariance but "no"…

Tovar, Esau; Simon, Merril A. – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2010
Using a diverse sample of university students, this article describes outcomes of a confirmatory factor analysis and a group invariance analysis conducted to validate the factorial structure of the Sense of Belonging Scales. Accordingly, a modified factor structure departing significantly from that of the original authors is proposed. (Contains 5…

Hansen, Jo-Ida C.; And Others – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 1994
Examined how accurately college students (n=87) recalled information from their Strong Interest Inventory (SII) profiles one year later. Significant number of participants recalled at least one profile result, but accuracy of recall varied by type of scale and percentage of participants who first remembered something and then remembered it…

Carter, Robert T.; Helms, Janet E. – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 1987
Investigated content and structure of cultural values for 174 Black students attending a university or community college. Subjects completed the Racial Identity Attitude Scale, Intercultural Values Inventory, and the Personal Data Sheet. Found differences in sex, racial identity, and an Afro-Euro-American mixture of cultural values. (Author/NB)

Reed, Jeffrey G.; And Others – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 1984
Details the development of a multidimensional measure of students' satisfaction with their college experience. The eight scale dimensions of the College Descriptive Index were found to be generally independent and displayed acceptable levels of reliability. A moderate degree of construct validity was also found. (Author/JAC)

Kranzler, John H.; Pajares, Frank – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 1997
Presents results of an exploratory factor analysis of the mathematics self-efficacy scale. Results, based on 522 undergraduates from three different colleges, indicate that the scale is a multidimensional measure of math self-efficacy with reliable subscales. Four first-order factors were identified, suggesting that the scale taps different…
