Kailee Matthews; Lane Marquardt; Hannah Keene; Sally B. Shepley; Collin Shepley – Education and Treatment of Children, 2024
For students exhibiting challenging behaviors that are nondangerous to others and nondisruptive to classroom activities, such as daydreaming and doodling, educators are unlikely to refer these students for more individualized and resource-intensive behavioral support. As a step towards understanding how to address these students' motivational…

Jessica B. Koslouski; Kristabel Stark; Sandra M. Chafouleas; T. Chris Riley-Tillman – Grantee Submission, 2023
Social, emotional, and behavioral (SEB) instruments are currently used in schools to screen, refer, and progress monitor students. Although many of these instruments have demonstrated strong technical adequacy, there has been far less examination of their consequential validity--that is, positive or negative intended and unintended consequences of…

Daniels, Brian; Volpe, Robert J.; Briesch, Amy M.; Gadow, Kenneth D. – Assessment for Effective Intervention, 2017
Direct behavior rating (DBR) represents a feasible method for monitoring student behavior in the classroom; however, limited work to date has focused on the use of multi-item scales. The purposes of the study were to examine the (a) dependability of data obtained from a multi-item DBR designed to assess peer conflict and (b) treatment sensitivity…

Davies, Susan C.; Jones, Kevin M.; Rafoth, Mary A. – Journal of Applied School Psychology, 2010
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of a self-monitoring intervention on teachers' direct behavior ratings of 3 students with traumatic brain injury. The authors used a multiple-baseline-across-participants design to evaluate the effect of the strategy on each child's classwork and classroom behavior. The self-monitoring strategy…

Riley-Tillman, T. Chris; Methe, Scott A.; Weegar, Kathryn – Assessment for Effective Intervention, 2009
High-quality formative assessment data are critical to the successful application of any problem-solving model (e.g., response to intervention). Formative data available for a wide variety of outcomes (academic, behavior) and targets (individual, class, school) facilitate effective decisions about needed intervention supports and responsiveness to…

Riley-Tillman, T. Chris; Chafouleas, Sandra M.; Briesch, Amy M. – Psychology in the Schools, 2007
With the growing popularity of a response to intervention model of service delivery, the role of intervention management is becoming more prominent. Although many aspects of intervention management have received significant attention, one area that warrants further development involves feasible methods for monitoring student behavior in a…

Chafouleas, Sandra; Riley-Tillman, T. Chris; Sugai, George – Guilford Publications, 2007
This book helps school practitioners go beyond putting a label on student behavior problems--it shows how to use assessment to partner with teachers and students to develop effective solutions. Sanson-Fischer, Robert W.; Mulligan, B. – Multivariate Behavioral Research, 1977
A multidimensional scaling technique was used to assess the content and construct validity of a behavioral rating scale constructed to measure appropriate and inappropriate classroom behavior. The authors argue for the validity of the scale and the use of multidimensional scaling in resolving validity problems in behavior analysis. (Author/JKS)

Chafouleas, Sandra M.; Riley-Tillman, T. Chris; McDougal, James L. – Psychology in the Schools, 2002
The purpose of this study was to define and review the daily report card (DBRC) as a monitoring and/or intervention technique. In general, it has been suggested that DBRCs may be feasible, acceptable, and effective in promoting a positive student. Despite the appeal of using DBRCs, widespread endorsement cannot be made without caution. (Author)

Reynolds, Cecil R. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1982
A modified multitrait-multimethod validation matrix was generated to evaluate the construct validity of the Revised Children's Manifest Anxiety Scale (RCMAS).
