Protecting Our Underwater Friends
Norman, Connie
SchoolArts: The Art Education Magazine for Teachers, v112 n4 p36-37 Dec 2012
The author was fortunate enough to teach in the children's program at Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Snowmass, Colorado. Anderson Ranch is a magical place where artists young and old come to expand their creative spirits. The children's art program spans a wide range of media for children aged six through seventeen. There are classes to explore painting from nature, making clay instruments, even to rebuild the lost city of Atlantis. In this article, the author describes a classroom lesson that focuses on understanding ocean life through sculpture.
