Presents the findings of an experiment conducted to determine the efficacy of the suggestopedia method (learning through suggestion, relaxation, and concentration) in teaching English vocabulary to 90 Spanish-dominant third graders. Reports that suggestopedia was found to be more effective than a control method for teaching vocabulary. (DR)

Four experiments, varying slightly in instructional method but all using the suggestopedic approach, confirmed that large amounts of second language vocabulary can be learned in a few hours. None of the experiments reached the vocabulary quantity of the Lozanov studies. The suggestopedic-corporal model was the most effective. (MSE)

This study evaluated the role of music in acquiring foreign language vocabulary using suggestopedia techniques with 40 technically gifted students.
