The concerns about the use of a modified scree test in analyzing data from Delphi surveys may not be important if the scree test data are weighted. Factors important to the study can be incorporated into the test, and the ordinate on the graph can be labeled accordingly. (SLD)

Three problems affecting the use of a modified scree test in analyzing Delphi survey data are discussed: (1) the adequacy of the criterion; (2) the complexity of decision making; and (3) the nature of the Delphi panel. Using the modified scree test with these considerations in mind is suggested. (SLD)

In a Delphi study of research needs in educational technology, 89 experts suggested 163 research needs. High-priority needs were identified by the Scree test--a method usually restricted to factor analysis. The usefulness of the technique for analysis of survey results suggests that it should be extended to other applications. (SLD)
