Discussion of telecommuting motivations and constraints focuses on a study that analyzed differences in variables due to gender, occupation, and presence of children for 583 employees of the city of San Diego. The study measures the significance of the health variable in a model explaining variations in labor supply. Results indicate that the disability variable substantially increases the explanatory power of the conventional model of labor supply, which otherwise overemphasizes education and family status.
