Peer reviewedAvani, Nathan T. – Business Education Forum, 1986
Describes an "Accounting and Computing" program in Michigan that emphasizes computerized accounting procedures. This article describes the program curriculum and duty areas (such as handling accounts receivable), presents a list of sample tasks in each duty area, and specifies components of each task. Foshay, Wellesley R. – Journal of Instructional Development, 1983
Describes and compares three approaches to task analysis--behaviorally-based, concept-based, and cognitive process-based--and provides four tentative recommendations for determining which approach is appropriate in a particular situation. Five flowcharts and fourteen references are included. (MBR)

Kennedy, Patricia; And Others – Journal of Instructional Development, 1983
Representative examples of task analysis procedures were examined for common components, methods, and terminology. Resulting generic components were categorized into the task analysis phases of task description and instructional analysis. The generalized model that is presented contains a consensus of procedures comprising educational and…

Carlisle, Kenneth E. – Journal of Instructional Development, 1983
Presents a process definition of task analysis and discusses how various techniques of analysis--breaking the task into its constituent elements, determining the relationship between these elements, and restructuring for performance and instruction--relate to this perspective. Two decision tables, a master design chart, and 28 references are…

Peer reviewedArkes, Hal R.; And Others – Journal of Educational Psychology, 1976
Strong instructions induced more interaction, resulting in better recall under intentional than under incidental instructions. Intentional instructions had greater impact on less efficient tasks and less effect on more efficient tasks. Maximum recall and efficiency occurred with simple instructions to read the passage. (Author/MV)

Peer reviewedSchwartz, Robert M.; Gottman, John M. – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1976
The present study analyzed the components of assertive behavior. Assertiveness problems were conceptualized in terms of a task analysis of the topography of competent responding. Subjects (N=101) who spanned the range of assertiveness responded to three sets of situations requiring refusal of an unreasonable request. (Author)

Frade, Cristina – International Group for the Psychology of Mathematics Education, 2004
In this report we present the methodology used in a study that investigated the tacit-explicit dynamic in learning processes. We have analyzed an episode related to a discussion about the difference between plane figures and spatial figures promoted by the teacher in her mathematics classroom (the students are aged 11 to 12). The data analysis was…

Villachica, Steven W.; Lohr, Linda L.; Summers, Laura; Lowell, Nate; Roberts, Stephanie; Javeri, Manisha; Hunt, Erin; Mahoney, Chris; Conn, Cyndie – 2001
Most representations of academic disciplines have been created when experts depict or report what they know; however, there are potential problems that can arise when practitioners rely on expert self-report. One way to avoid potential problems associated with expert self-report is to employ cognitive task analysis methods. The Pathfinder Scaling…

Peer reviewedButzow, John W.; Sewell, Leyton E. – Journal of Research in Science Teaching, 1972
Grade 8 students using the Introductory Physical Science course improved their scores on a test of science processes (observing, comparing, classifying, quantifying, etc.) after studying the first five chapters of the materials. Some evidence supporting a hierarchy of process skills is reported. (AL)
