A case study of a secondary general educator involved in a collaborative-teaching model in an inclusive suburban high school, found that replicating and sustaining collaborative teaching can be difficult, complex and, without careful consideration of contextual variables, may not lead to improved outcomes for teachers or students. Describes a 3-year study of 18 elementary and 7 middle school teams involved in development and implementation of building-level programs designed to support students with disabilities in mainstream classrooms.
