This study was conducted to determine if secondary school science teachers differed in personality factors from secondary non-science teachers. Scores of 80 science and 35 randomly selected non-science teachers were collected on the 16 PF Questionnaire. (PS)

Examines the development and usefulness of the Elementary Science Teachers' Preferences (ESTP) test. Findings suggest that this instrument is useful and valid in determining differences between teaching preferences of teacher-centered and student-centered teachers. Findings also indicate that polarized labeling of teachers is inappropriate. (MA)

Investigated implications of cognitive development of preservice teachers (N=91) as it related to their classroom teaching performance. Results obtained support a general portrait of teaching behavior specifically related to teachers of differing cognitive functional levels. Studied the utilization and effectiveness of a televised science series in 54 first through fourth-grade classrooms, using multiple category systems to analyze the questioning behavior of studio and classroom teachers. Concluded that questioning behaviors of teachers with or without the teachers' manual was influenced by the TV broadcast. (CC)

Studied the effectiveness of using checklist-structured observations as a self-improvement technique for modifying teachers' verbal behaviors in the classroom. Concluded that significant changes were found in analyzing pre- and post-treatment audiotape recordings of participating teachers' regular classes. (CC)
