Education Policy Innovation Collaborative
This is the fourth in a series of annual reports about teacher shortages in Michigan that the state legislature requested in December 2020 (2020 PA 316). Informed by our previous reports and newly available data from the 2023-24 school year, this report provides an updated view of teacher shortages throughout Michigan. The report shows recent growth in the supply of Michigan teachers, but continued challenges with turnover and matching teachers' credentials with schools' needs. [This report was prepared in collaboration with the Center for Educational Performance and Information (CEPI).]
