A review of issues associated with teacher mentoring explores various ways for construing mentor roles, formal and informal mentoring processes, supportive conditions for mentoring, criteria for selecting mentors, and criteria for matching mentors to beginning teachers. Teacher selection procedures should examine personal qualities such as adaptation, creativity, self-renewal, and moral orientation.
