McKenzie, Dean P.; Clarke, David M. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1992
A FORTRAN program is described that aids in construction of screening tests by performing a type of Receiver Operating Characteristic analysis as well as calculating measures such as sensitivity and specificity. CUTOFF could be applied in any setting where the optional cutoff for separating persons into two classes is required. (Author/SLD)

van den Brink, Wulfert – Evaluation in Education: International Progress, 1982
Binomial models for domain-referenced testing are compared, emphasizing the assumptions underlying the beta-binomial model. Advantages and disadvantages are discussed. A proposed item sampling model is presented which takes the effect of guessing into account. (Author/CM)

Niemi, David; Wang, Jia; Wang, Haiwen; Vallone, Julia; Griffin, Noelle – National Center for Research on Evaluation, Standards, and Student Testing (CRESST), 2007
There are usually many testing activities going on in a school, with different tests serving different purposes, thus organization and planning are key in creating an efficient system in assessing the most important educational objectives. In the ideal case, an assessment system will be able to inform on student learning, instruction and…

van der Linden, Wim J. – Evaluation in Education: International Progress, 1982
In mastery testing a linear relationship between an optimal passing score and test length is presented with a new optimization criterion. The usual indifference zone approach, a binomial error model, decision errors, and corrections for guessing are discussed. Related results in sequential testing and the latent class approach are included. (CM)

Nevo, David – 1989
The purpose of this study was to develop a testing method for the assessment of various types of writing at the elementary school level that would meet acceptable standards for educational measurement instruments as well as standards of utility and feasibility within a given educational system. The study was conducted within the framework of an…
