Burney, DeAnna McKinnie; Kromrey, Jeffrey – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 2001
Studied the construct validity of scores on the Adolescent Anger Rating Scale (AARS) developed to measure instrumental and reactive anger. Results for 792 12- to 19-year-olds indicate that AARS scores are internally consistent and stable when anger subtypes are measured. (SLD)

Krus, David J.; Helmstadter, Gerald C. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1993
Negative coefficients of reliability, sometimes returned by the standard formula for estimation of the internal-consistency reliability, are neither theoretically nor numerically correct. Alternative strategies for test development in this special case are suggested. (Author)

DeConinck, James B.; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1996
Using a multidimensional measure of pay satisfaction, the Pay Satisfaction Questionnaire (PSQ), this study assessed the discriminant validity between scores on a measure of distributive justice and the PSQ with 474 employees. Confirmatory factor analysis results indicate that items from both scales loaded on the hypothesized dimensions. (SLD)

Stern, Paul C.; Guagnano, Gregory A.; Dietz, Thomas – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1998
A brief version of the instrument developed by S. Schwartz (1992, 1994) to measure the structure and content of human values was developed. Studies with 199 adults and 420 adults support the reliability of scores produced by the brief inventory's four three-item scales. Uses of the brief form are discussed. (SLD)

Roos, Linda L.; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1996
This article describes Minnesota Computerized Adaptive Testing Language program code for using the MicroCAT 3.5 testing software to administer several types of self-adapted tests. Code is provided for: a basic self-adapted test; a self-adapted version of an adaptive mastery test; and a restricted self-adapted test. (Author/SLD)

Schau, Candace; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1995
The development of the Survey of Attitudes Toward Statistics is described, and the results from several validity analyses performed with 1,203 college students are presented. Additional validity evidence was obtained through correlation with the Attitudes Toward Statistics Scale of S. L. Wise for a subsample of 221 students. (SLD)

Hakstian, A. Ralph; Scratchley, Linda S. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1997
The feasibility and efficacy of using self-report response methods with an In-Basket exercise were evaluated in two studies involving 258 managers and 55 college students, respectively. Results suggest that high face validity of the In-Basket exercise can be combined with the scoring ease and objectivity of self-reports. (SLD)

Breaugh, James A. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1998
Results of 3 studies, involving 80 adult employees, 6,810 defense contractor employees, and 88 graduate students, support the reliability and validity of a new measure of global work autonomy, the Global Work Autonomy Scale (B. Ashforth and A. Saks, 1995). (SLD)

Kacmar, K. Michele; Valle, Matthew – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1997
The dimensionality of the Measure of Ingratiatory Behaviors in Organizational Settings (MIBOS) (K. Kumar and M. Beyerlein, 1991) was studied with data from 203 state government employees. Results do not confirm the factor solution proposed by the measure's creators. Suggestions are offered to improve the psychometric properties of the MIBOS scale.…

Mulhern, Fiona; Rae, Gordon – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1998
Data from 196 Irish school children were analyzed and used to develop a shortened version of the Fennema-Sherman Mathematics Attitudes Scales (E. Fennema and J. Sherman, 1976). Internal consistency estimates of the reliability of scores on the whole scale and each of the subscales of the original and short form were favorable. (SLD)

Gardner, Donald G.; Cummings, L. L.; Dunham, Randall B.; Pierce, Jon L. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1998
Whether traditional Likert-type focus of attention at work scales would outperform the one-item scales developed by D. Gardner and others (1989) was studied with responses of 492 automobile-services-club employees. Confirmatory factor analysis did not show either method to be better empirically. Situations in which the one-item scale might be…

Cattell, Raymond B.; Cattell, Heather E. P. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1995
The development of the new fifth edition of the Sixteen Personality Factor Questionnaire (16PF) is described. The factor structure of the new 16PF was explored with 4 samples ranging from 646 to 3,498 subjects. Results support the validity of the 16PF factor structure and its continuity with earlier versions. (SLD)
