This article reports on the construction of a 60-item inventory for the identification of child abusers. A principal axis factoring with oblique promax rotations was performed to interpret the underlying dimensionality of the predictor items. Four dimensions were found: loneliness, rigidity, problems, and control. (Author/SJL)

Describes development of a situation-specific trait-state test for affective responses. Form One contains 20 situations to which subjects described responses on 16 scales for each situation. Study Two assessed reliability of these scales, sex differences, and trait-state relationships. Five validity studies are described. (Author)

Sets of inventory scales were constructed from a common item pool, using variants of what are here called the Inductive, Deductive, and External strategies. Peer ratings for 21 traits served as criteria. Very little variation in validity was attributable to construction strategies. (Author/CTM)
