Cook, Ryan M.; Fye, Heather J.; Wind, Stefanie A. – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2021
We examined the psychometric properties of the Counselor Burnout Inventory (CBI) with 560 early career, post-master's counselors. We tested the dimensional structure of the CBI, item ordering, and the function of the rating scale using item response theory. Implications of the findings for researchers, counselors, and counselor educators are…

Moore, C. Missy; Foxx, Sejal Parikh – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2021
Using a multiphased and mixed method approach to instrument development, the ISS-C was composed of 16 items extracted into four factors, which demonstrated adequate model fit. The ISS-C scores showed good internal consistency, convergent validity, and temporal stability, while some aspects of discriminant validity remain suboptimal.

Ning, Hoi Kwan – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2018
The psychometric properties of the 2 versions of the Junior Metacognitive Awareness Inventory were examined with Singapore student samples. Other than 2 misfitting items and an underutilized response scale, Rasch analysis demonstrated that the instruments have good measurement precision, and no differential item functioning was detected across…

Marszalek, Jacob M.; Hamilton, Jessica L. – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2012
Four maltreatment items were examined from Wave III (N = 13,516) of the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health. Item analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, cross-validation, reliability estimates, and convergent validity coefficients strongly supported the validity of using the four items as a unidimensional composite. Implications for…

del Carmen DomÃnguez Espinosa, Alejandra; van de Vijver, Fons J. R. – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2014
We describe an Indigenous Social Desirability Scale for Mexico developed using a mixed-methods approach. Scores on the scale with two dimensions show adequate reliability and validity.

Kim, Bryan S. K.; Soliz, Alicia; Orellana, Blanca; Alamilla, Saul G. – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2009
This article describes the development of the Latino/a Values Scale (35 items, 14 reverse-worded). Evidence of reliability and validity are presented on the basis of three studies. An examination of the factor structure of the items suggests the presence of the following dimensions: cultural pride, simpatia, familismo, and espiritismo. (Contains 4…

Lee, Sang Min; Puig, Ana; Pasquarella-Daley, Lauren; Denny, George; Rai, Ann Allen; Dallape, Aprille; Parker, Woodrow Max – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2007
This article describes the revision of the White Racial Consciousness Development Scale (D. Claney & W. M. Parker, 1989). A multistage approach including item generation, item refinement and selection, and evaluation of score validity and reliability was used to test construction and validation. Implications for theory, practice, and future…

Erford, Bradley T.; Stephens, Vicki M. – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2005
Technical characteristics of the Reading Essential Skills Screener-Elementary Version (RESS-E; B. T. Erford, G. Vitali, R. Haas, & R. R. Boykin, 1995) were studied using 4 independent samples of boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 8 years. Evidence of internal consistency, test-retest reliability, decision efficiency, factorial validity,…
