Descriptors: Arousal Patterns, Auditory Stimuli, Test Reliability, Test Validity

Nickel, Ted – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1971
Directions are provided for the construction of a reduced size Rod and Frame Test. Simpler and less expensive, the proposed apparatus has criterion validity parallel to that of the full-sized. (GS)
Descriptors: Comparative Analysis, Psychological Studies, Sex Differences, Statistical Analysis

Allen, Mary J.; And Others – Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1982
Adults took the Rod and Frame, Portable Rod and Frame, and Embedded Figures Tests. Absolute and algebraic frame-effect scores were more reliable and valid than rod-effect algebraic scores. Correlations with the Embedded Figures Test were so low that the interchangeability of these field articulation measures is questionable. (Author/RD)

McGarvey, Bill; And Others – Applied Psychological Measurement, 1977
The most consistently used scoring system for the rod-and-frame task has been the total number of degrees in error from the true vertical. Since a logical case can be made for at least four alternative scoring systems, a thorough comparison of all five systems was performed. (Author/CTM)

Green, Kathy E. – 1989
The psychometric utility of six experimental cognitive style (CS) measures was analyzed. Examinees were 1,135 clients of the Johnson O'Connor Research Foundation who, during 1985, completed at least one of the six CS tests. Information is provided on measure reliability; relationships among CS measures; relationships with standard battery aptitude…

Busch, John Christian; Simon, Lawrence H. – 1972
The rod and frame performance of 70 children, 5 to 7 years of age, with respect to sex and age differences, reliability, and its relationship to general intelligence, was investigated. The rod and frame test was administered individually and again following a period of 35 to 69 days, at which time the Lorge Thorndike Intelligence Test, form 1A,…
