Xiao, Leifeng; Hau, Kit-Tai – Applied Measurement in Education, 2023
We compared coefficient alpha with five alternatives (omega total, omega RT, omega h, GLB, and coefficient H) in two simulation studies. Results showed for unidimensional scales, (a) all indices except omega h performed similarly well for most conditions; (b) alpha is still good; (c) GLB and coefficient H overestimated reliability with small…

Fatih Orcan – International Journal of Assessment Tools in Education, 2023
Among all, Cronbach's Alpha and McDonald's Omega are commonly used for reliability estimations. The alpha uses inter-item correlations while omega is based on a factor analysis result. This study uses simulated ordinal data sets to test whether the alpha and omega produce different estimates. Their performances were compared according to the…

Cortes, Sylvester T.; Pineda, Hedeliza A.; Geverola, Immar Jun R. – Advanced Education, 2021
The instrument that assesses teachers' competence on AR methodology is limited. Thus, it is one of the issues concerning evaluating the effectiveness of a professional development program on designing AR projects. It is difficult to determine how much and what teachers have learned in a course or training. Thus, this cross-sectional study aimed to…

Harbaugh, Allen G.; Liu, Min – AERA Online Paper Repository, 2017
This research examines the effects of nonattending response pattern contamination and select response style patterns on measures of model fit (CFI) and internal reliability (Cronbach's [alpha]). A simulation study examines the effects resulting from percentage of contamination, number of manifest items measured and sample size. Initial results…

Sharma, Sujeet Kumar; Sarrab, Mohamed; Al-Shihi, Hafedh – Interactive Learning Environments, 2017
The growth of Smartphone usage, increased acceptance of electronic learning (E-learning), the availability of high reliability mobile networks and need for flexibility in learning have resulted in the growth of mobile learning (M-learning). This has led to a tremendous interest in the acceptance behaviors related to M-learning users among the…

Aiken, Lewis R. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1985
Three numerical coefficients for analyzing the validity and reliability of ratings are described. Each coefficient is computed as the ratio of an obtained to a maximum sum of differences in ratings. The coefficients are also applicable to the item analysis, agreement analysis, and cluster or factor analysis of rating-scale data. (Author/BW)

Lopez, Frederick G.; Rice, Kenneth G. – Journal of Counseling Psychology, 2006
The authors describe the preliminary development and validation of the Authenticity in Relationships Scale. An initial pool of 37 items addressing various elements of the proposed definition of "relationship authenticity" was administered to 2 independent samples of undergraduates (N = 487) who acknowledged being in a current romantic…
