Bracken, Bruce A.; And Others – Journal of School Psychology, 1984
Compared the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (Revised) and the Woodcock-Johnson Psycho-Educational Battery (W-J) for 142 children with regular and learning-disabled (LD) class placement. The W-J and WISC-R evidenced low to moderate correlations and significant mean differences. W-J/WISC-R correlations for the regular students exceeded…

Clark, Priscilla; And Others – Journal of School Psychology, 1987
Investigated use of revised Slosson Intelligence Test (SIT) for screening public school students (N=131) for giftedness. Found revised SIT intelligence quotient (IQ) mean to be significantly lower than old ratio SIT IQ mean, significantly higher than Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-Revised and Stanford-Binet means. Advises caution in…

Snow, Jeffrey H.; And Others – Psychology in the Schools, 1983
Administered the Luria-Nebraska Neuropsychological Battery-Children's Revision (LNNB-Children's Revision) and The Minnesota Percepto-Diagnostic Test (MPD) to 40 learning disabled students. Low correlations were found between MPD T scores and the LNNB-Children's Revision Scales, but raw scores from the MPD had somewhat higher correlations with the…

Vance, Booney; And Others – Psychology in the Schools, 1983
Compared the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-Revised and the Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test-Revised for students (N=37). Statistical analyses showed no significant differences between the WISC-R IQs and PPVT-R standard scores; PPVT-R did not correlate significantly with the WISC-R IQ scales. (WAS)

Ollendick, Duane G.; Woodward, Gary L. – Psychology in the Schools, 1982
Administered the Missouri Children's Picture Series (MCPS) to two groups of teacher-referred male children (N=20): one group was referred for learning problems and the other for behavioral problems. Results revealed no significant mean differences between groups. Questions are raised as to the usefulness and validity of the MCPS. (Author)

Goh, David S.; Simons, Marc R. – Psychology in the Schools, 1980
Learning disabled children performed lower than general education children on all five major scale indexes. A similar amount of scatter was present in the profiles of learning disabled and general education children. No specific pattern of scale indexes could be determined as typical for learning disabled children. (Author)

Gutkin, Terry B. – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1982
Results indicated that despite very high correlations between deviation quotients and traditional measures, changes of potential diagnostic significance occurred in scores of over half the sample (N=2,200). Discusses the potential utility of the factorially pure deviation quotients. Presents a table for translation of scaled scores into these…

Goldstein, Donald J.; And Others – Psychology in the Schools, 1982
Examined the relationship between performance on the Expressive One-Word Picture Vocabulary Test (EOWPVT) and other verbal and nonverbal ability measures in a group of preschool borderline retarded children. Results tentatively support the use of the EOWPVT as a measure of verbal intelligence in this population. (Author/JAC)

Tierney, Robert J.; And Others – 1976
The topic of differential diagnosis and its application to the use of the Revised Illinois Test of Psycholinguistic Abilities (ITPA) and Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-Revised (WISC-R) is discussed. The theoretical bases for differential diagnosis and the properties of assessment instruments with diagnostic properties are presented.…
