Three types of test bias are discussed: content bias, atmosphere bias, and use bias. Use bias is considered the most important. Administered the Stanford-Binet and Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (Revised) to 121 children with developmental problems. Results showed 28 children received absolute differences of 12 points or greater between the Binet and the WISC-R. There were 10 instances of complete incongruence between the Binet and all the WISC-R IQs. (JAC)

Advances have been made in testing optometrists' clinical skills, particularly with the use of simulation techniques. Further research into these techniques will probably receive the most attention, although a shift in research emphasis from correlational studies of test validity and reliability to test development studies is needed.
