David Chesnet; Clara Solier; Benjamin Bordas; Cyril Perret – Reading and Writing: An Interdisciplinary Journal, 2024
To explore the dynamics of processing in manuscript production, it is necessary to possess a system for recording the writer's graphic activity. This work describes the new version of the Eye and Pen program (version 3.01). In addition to the fact that it is now freely available (https://www.eyeandpen.net), the improvements described focus on its…

Atkin, Keith – Physics Education, 2021
This paper shows how the freely downloadable software package called "SMath Studio" can be used to solve the time-independent Schrödinger equation using a simple step-wise approximation. The solution is illustrated with reference to the hydrogen atom for which trial eigenvalues are supplied by the energy level formula of the Bohr atom.

Koç, Feden – International Journal of Technology in Education, 2023
In this study, it is aimed to determine the effect of video game playing time on academic performance of students who play video games and take computerized accounting courses at Usak University and attend computerized accounting courses. The data obtained with the questionnaire applied to a total of seventy students within the scope of the study…

Loo, Michelle – ProQuest LLC, 2023
Based on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) (Davis et al., 1989), this research examines the variables of perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use as predictors of video creation usage after software training. To gain a comprehensive understanding of the technology adoption process, the study also employed the Learning Adoption Trajectory…

The purpose of this study was to compare activPAL algorithm-estimated values for time in bed (TIB), wake time (WT) and bedtime (BT) against self-report and an algorithm developed by van der Berg and colleagues. Secondary analyses of baseline data from the Community Activity for Prevention Study (CAPs) were used in which adults [greater than or…

Yasuyuki Nakamura – International Association for Development of the Information Society, 2023
STACK is an online testing system that can automatically assess mathematical formulae. When working with STACK on a smartphone, inputting mathematical formulae is time-consuming; therefore, to solve this problem a mathematical formula input interface for smartphones has been developed based on the flick operation. However, since the time of…

Johnson, Nicola F. – Technology, Pedagogy and Education, 2021
Digital devices and ubiquitous online access contribute to the nature and amount of digital labour conducted by school staff. Drawing on more than 40 interviews with staff at one Australian secondary school, the general nature of this digital labour is presented, then Clancy's notion of temporal autonomous spaces is introduced and applied to…

Guercio, Angelica M.; Mao, Yixiang; Carvalho, Victor N. D.; Zhang, Jiazhen; Li, Changyuan; Ren, Zheng; Zhao, Winnie; Wang, Yao; Brenner, Eric D. – Bioscene: Journal of College Biology Teaching, 2019
Despite the fundamental importance of plants to our very survival, student interest in plant biology is in decline as technology draws us further away from nature. Here we introduce "Plant Tracer" (http://www.planttracer.com), a Matlab-based program, which can quantify time-lapse videos of plant movement. We demonstrate that Plant Tracer…

Houghton, Tony; Lavicza, Zsolt; Diego-Mantecón, Jose Manuel; Fenyvesi, Kristof; Weinhandl, Robert; Rahmadi, Imam Fitri – Journal of Technology and Science Education, 2022
Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS) has been widely used in both industry and in schools over at least the last twenty years. The Industry Hothousing variant of CPS is an intensive, time-constrained workshop-based process to build mutual trust between customers and industry experts in order to synergically develop creative solutions. The main…

Stanton, Robert; Doering, Thomas M.; Macgregor, Campbell; Borges, Nattai; Delvecchio, Luke – Measurement in Physical Education and Exercise Science, 2019
Countermovement jump (CMJ) height is an important parameter in physical performance. This study compared CMJ height measured using ChronoJump contact mat (CJ) and Myotest accelerometer (MT) systems with a force platform (FP). Thirty recreationally active adults (32.1 ± 10.4 years, 75.9 ± 12.0 kg, 173.2 ± 6.3 cm) completed a CMJ protocol where…

Kiewra, Kenneth A.; Colliot, Tiphaine; Lu, Junrong – IDEA Center, Inc., 2018
Students are incomplete note takers who routinely record just one third of a lesson's important information in their notes. This is unfortunate, because the number of lesson points recorded in notes is positively correlated with student achievement. Moreover, both the activity of recording notes and the subsequent review of notes are advantageous.…

Etopio, Elisabeth; Winkelsas, Amanda; Jo, SeungJung; Karalis Noel, Tiffany; Kearney, Erin; Gorlewski, Julie – Policy Futures in Education, 2023
This narrative imagines the future of education through three vignettes, each of which describes a community of learners exploring artifacts from the past even as they learn together in the present. Scenarios trace the experiences of Eden, who was born in 2012, and her involvement with learning and educational institutions. Threaded through…

Vollmer, Michael; Möllmann, Klaus-Peter – Physics Education, 2018
Video analysis with a 30 Hz frame rate is the standard tool in physics education. The development of affordable high-speed-cameras has extended the capabilities of the tool for much smaller time scales to the 1 ms range, using frame rates of typically up to 1000 frames s[superscript -1], allowing us to study transient physics phenomena happening…

Farlik, John T. – ProQuest LLC, 2016
Project success has multiple definitions in the scholarly literature. Research has shown that some scholars and practitioners define project success as the completion of a project within schedule and within budget. Others consider a successful project as one in which the customer is satisfied with the product. This quantitative study was conducted…
