Chronic absenteeism rates have become an increasing problem after the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic (U.S Department of Education, 2022). There is a need to identify interventions to effectively target the heightened rates of student absences. This study examined the effectiveness of the Dine and Doodle intervention in increasing attendance in a Nebraska elementary school. In this study, classrooms received rewards for earning tokens and completing token boards for displaying perfect attendance. Visual and statistical analyses were utilized to compare the average daily attendance (ADA) and number of absences before and after the intervention. The results showed a significant increase in attendance schoolwide, for students receiving and not receiving Free and Reduced Lunch, and for several grade levels. Implications and future directions are discussed. [The dissertation citations contained here are published with the permission of ProQuest LLC. Further reproduction is prohibited without permission.
