Zhang, Zhonghua – Journal of Experimental Education, 2022
Reporting standard errors of equating has been advocated as a standard practice when conducting test equating. The two most widely applied procedures for standard errors of equating including the bootstrap method and the delta method are either computationally intensive or confined to the derivations of complicated formulas. In the current study,…

Keller, Lisa A.; Keller, Robert R.; Parker, Pauline A. – Journal of Experimental Education, 2011
This study investigates the comparability of two item response theory based equating methods: true score equating (TSE), and estimated true equating (ETE). Additionally, six scaling methods were implemented within each equating method: mean-sigma, mean-mean, two versions of fixed common item parameter, Stocking and Lord, and Haebara. Empirical…

Williams, Richard H. – Journal of Experimental Education, 1974
An equation comparable to Spearman's correction for attenuation, which does not depend upon the assumption that error scores are uncorrelated with true scores and with other sets of scores, is derived. (Editor)

Williams, Richard H.; And Others – Journal of Experimental Education, 1995
The paradox that a Student t-test based on pretest-posttest differences can attain its greatest power when the difference score reliability is zero was explained by demonstrating that power is not a mathematical function of reliability unless either true score variance or error score variance is constant. (SLD)

Zimmerman, Donald W. – Journal of Experimental Education, 1977
Derives formulas for the validity of predictor-criterion tests that hold for all test scores constructed according to the expected-value concept of true score. These more general formulas disclose some paradoxical properties of test validity under conditions where errors are correlated and have some implications for practical testing situations…

Gupta, J. K.; And Others – Journal of Experimental Education, 1989
A model was developed for estimating individuals' true changes on test scores using the additional information provided by an auxiliary variable correlated with a trait being measured. This provides an improved and more precise estimate when compared with simple difference scores. It involves the reliability of "X" scores only. (SLD)

Gupta, J. K.; And Others – Journal of Experimental Education, 1988
A multiple regression model for estimating true change of an individual by using information in addition to pretest-posttest data is described. Longitudinal panel or multi-wave data taken between the pretest and the posttest constitute the additional information. (TJH)

Wilcox, Rand R. – Journal of Experimental Education, 1982
A closed sequential procedure for estimating true score is proposed for use with answer-until-correct tests. The accuracy of determining true score is the same as in conventional sequential solutions, but the possibility of using an unnecessarily large number of items is eliminated. (Author/CM)
