Dillman Taylor, Dalena; Bratton, Sue C.; Henson, Robin K. – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2019
A split-sample cross-validation confirmatory factor analysis (N = 1,210) confirmed the 4-factor structure of the Adlerian Personality Priority Assessment (APPA) with 2 distinct subsamples. Discriminant validity, prevalence rates of priorities, and preliminary group norms are reported.

Martin, Jessica L.; Zamboanga, Byron L.; Haase, Richard F.; Buckner, Lindsay C. – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2020
The purpose of this study was to assess measurement equivalence of the 15-item Protective Behavioral Strategies Scale (PBSS) across White and Black college students. Results partially supported measurement equivalence across racial groups. Clinicians and researchers should be cautious in using the PBSS to make comparisons between White and Black…

Cho, Yongrae; Choi, Younghee; Kim, Sunyoung; Hong, Sehee – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2018
We examined the factor structure and other psychometric properties of the Social Phobia Inventory (SPIN) in Korean nonclinical (N1 = 457, N2 = 444) and clinical undergraduate samples (N3 = 12). Results support the revised 3-factor structure and applicability of the SPIN as a measure yielding valid and reliable scores of social anxiety to Koreans.

Lancaster, Steven L.; Melka, Stephen E.; Klein, Keith P.; Rodriguez, Benjamin F. – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2015
The current study examined the convergent validity and factor structure of the State-Trait Inventory of Cognitive and Somatic Anxiety in a sample of African Americans and European Americans. Validity analyses revealed similar associations; however, the factor analysis failed to support the original factor structure and factorial variance was…

Demir, Ilkay; Gazioglu, Esra Ismen – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2017
The first aim of this study was to explore the reliability and validity of the Turkish version of the Theoretical Orientation Profile Scale-Revised, and the second aim was to understand the relative influence of personal and professional variables on the choice of a guiding theoretical orientation among Turkish counselor trainees. Results showed…

Smith, Leann V.; Cokley, Kevin – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2016
The authors investigated the psychometric properties of the Social Identities and Attitudes Scale developed by Picho and Brown, which captures an individual's vulnerability to Stereotype Threat effects. Confirmatory factor analyses and group invariance tests conducted on a diverse sample of 516 college students revealed adequate reliability and…

Derby, Dustin C.; Smith, Thomas J. – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2014
The purpose of the current study was to assess the gender invariance of an a priori four-factor solution of behavioral consequences of drinking. Results evidenced strong partial measurement invariance, with marginal structural invariance, which signals that the underlying constructs possessed the same theoretical structure for both men and women.

Cho, Yongrae; Hong, Sehee – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2013
The factor structure of the Korean version of the Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale was examined. Rather than the six-factor model, the five-factor model with a method factor was supported. This result suggests that the AWARENESS and CLARITY factors can be combined into one construct, controlling for the method factor. (Contains 1 figure.)

Özdikmenli-Demir, Gözde; Demir, Serdar – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2014
The validity and reliability of the Scale of Ethnocultural Empathy (SEE) was tested using a sample of 348 emerging adult university students living in Turkey. Different from the original scale's four-factor structure, results of principal components analyses and confirmatory factor analyses exposed that there were three factors explaining 45% of…

Wright, Stephen L.; Wright, Dorothy A.; Jenkins-Guarnieri, Michael A. – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2013
The current study developed an 18-item scale measuring individuals' social expectations in relationships related to their efficacy expectations (Subscale 1) and outcome expectations (Subscale 2) based on Bandura's self-efficacy theory. Results from exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses, using an undergraduate sample ("N" = 486),…

Greer, Tawanda M. – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2010
This study examined the structural validity of the Schedule of Racist Events (SRE), a brief inventory that assesses the frequency and stressfulness of racism in the lives of African Americans. The original three-factor structure of the SRE was examined, along with an alternative structure that was designed to test whether the SRE captured types of…

Ang, Rebecca P.; Lau, Shun; Tan, Ai-Girl; Lim, Kam Ming – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2007
This article describes the validation and refinement of the short, 10-item version of the Attitudes Toward Seeking Professional Psychological Help (E. H. Fischer & J. L. Turner, 1970) scale using 2 separate samples. Confirmatory factor analyses results provided evidence of factorial invariance across both samples, thus supporting the…

Loo, Robert – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2001
Examines the psychometric properties of scores on the Work Preference Inventory (WPI), particularly its factor structure and scale reliabilities. Analyses of data from 200 undergraduates showed qualified support for the inventory and its use for developmental purposes. States that the WPI may be a useful tool in stimulating students to examine…
