Emily Hockley, of Cambridge University Press, and Margaret Bartley, of Bloomsbury Publishing, highlight the way that working directly with scholars, students and digital resources creators, through partnerships and collaborative relationships, has helped to frame the current form of their respective online platforms. While the focus of the debate is on subscription-based services I also highlight the fact that in the future it may be increasingly difficult to contain copyright restricted materials within the current structures. I suggest that resource creation is heading in three divergent directions, commercial subscription-based, free, publicly funded resources and copyright irreverent audience generated sites.
