This article contends that an urban ethnic community is capable of developing coinciding spatial and sociocultural boundaries. This correspondence will be strengthened when the leaders of the ethnic community perceive that demographic concentration is politically advantageous. The case of the Sikh population of Vancouver supports this contention. (Author/GC)
