The Bradford distribution is introduced and explained; its ambiguity, and relationship to the Zipf distribution are discussed. The general situation that might yield such a distribution is described and shown to fit the interaction between book users and books available. (Author)

Thirty libraries, of 169 surveyed, used late-night study areas to extend library hours. Most study areas were open one to three hours after the library closed, and nine stayed open all night . Room counts at one university library showed that use was light after 2:00 a.m. (LS)
