Poulin-Dubois, Diane; And Others – Developmental Psychology, 1994
In 2 experiments, 9- and 12-month-old infants were shown pictures of males and females with a female or male voice presented simultaneously. Found that infants spent more time looking at pictures of females presented with a female voice than at other stimuli pictures. (BC)

Riding, R. J.; Boardman, D. J. – Educational Review, 1983
Preference for field dependence independence and verbal imagery was assessed in 96 14-year-olds. Their map reading performance was measured in terms of map-aerial photograph correlation, symbol translation, and view identification. The results suggest that map reading performance depends on the learning style, sex of the pupil, and the type of…

And Others; Bagnara, Sebastiano – Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1980
Eight men and eight women responded "same" or "different" to pairs of geometric figures. Male subjects showed a left visual-field advantage regardless of the level of processing, whereas female subjects did not show a clear-cut hemispheric asymmetry. Results are discussed in terms of sex differences in processing strategies. (Author/SJL)

Etaugh, Claire; Turton, William J. – Journal of Genetic Psychology, 1977

Wilson, Elizabeth; Ng, Sik Hung – Sex Roles, 1988
Sex specific biases in visual images was explored. When photographs of male and female faces were presented in a deliberately ambiguous manner, university students overreported the number of male faces and underreported female faces. The results are predictable with the variation of generic sentences shown with the photographs. (VM)

Rosser, Rosemary A.; And Others – Child Development, 1984
The ability of 40 children four and five years of age to discriminate reflections and rotations of visual stimuli was examined in a kinetic imagery task. Results revealed that prediction accuracy was associated with the existence of orientation markers on the stimuli, as well as age, sex, type of discrimination, and several interactions among the…

In addition, multiple visual response measures are used in monitoring the habituation process and the infant's response to various degrees of novelty. Ss were 36 apparently normal newborns (half of each sex) ranging in…
