Meir, Elchanan I.; Melamed, Samuel – Journal of Vocational Behavior, 2005

Hener, Tamar; Meir, Elchanan I. – Vocational Aspect of Education, 1981
Describes the construction of an interest inventory for nurses and the determination of its reliability and validity. This study concentrates on only the clinical areas. Data support the hypothesis that a higher level of occupational choice satisfaction can be predicted following interest-based specialization choices. (CT)

Meir, Elchanan I. – Career Development Quarterly, 1994
Suggests counselors measure vocational interests with three inventories: Ramak Interest Inventory, Courses Interest Inventory, and Self-Directed Search. Meir, Elchanan I. – Journal of Vocational Behavior, 1989
Presents development of Holland's congruence theory in four layers: (1) vocational interest and occupational choices as dichotomy of fit/nonfit; (2) level of congruence between vocational interests and occupational choices; (3) environmental congruence; and (4) within-occupation congruence. Suggests integrative interpretation for variance found in…

Meir, Elchanan I.; Rubin, Amir; Temple, Richard; Osipow, Samuel H. – Career Development Quarterly, 1997
Describes the adaptation--based on Roe's classification of occupations--of two interest inventories translated into English. In an analysis based on the responses of 181 participants, the items followed the six rules for interest inventory items formulated by Meir and Gati. Analysis supported the construct validity of the inventories. (RJM)

Meir, Elchanan I.; Hadadi, Amalia – Journal of Vocational Behavior, 1974
One hundred eleven subjects were asked to indicate how much relationship with people is involved in 48 occupational titles. The results support Roe's classification of occupations: differences within occupational fields were found to be smaller than differences between occupational fields (F=8.53, p less than .01). Meir, Elchanan I.; Friedland, Nehemia – Journal of Vocational Behavior, 1971
A sample of 80 boys and girls attending the 12th grade of academic high schools in Israel was asked to rank five occupations according to their individual preferences. A positive correlation was found between the occupational preference ranking and the intrinsic but not the extrinsic needs. (Author)

Meir, Elchanan I.; And Others – Journal of Vocational Behavior, 1975
The Ramak and Courses interest inventories based on Roe's (1956) occupational classification were modified for use with subjects who answer negatively to most items in the traditional forms. Negative respondents give more positive responses on the modified forms than on the traditional ones. (Author)

Meir, Elchanan I. – Journal of Vocational Behavior, 1973
Students in the last grade of an Israeli high school were given an interest questionnaire drawn up according to Roe's (1956) occupational classification. Smallest Space Analysis of the responses produced an identical circular field structure for both sexes. Within each field the occupational levels were arranged in hierarchic order. (Author)

Hener, Tamar; Meir, Elchanan I. – Journal of Vocational Behavior, 1981
Used Holland's congruency, consistency, and differentiation terms to predict job satisfaction within a single occupation. Based on the responses of 126 registered nurses, the congruence hypothesis was confirmed. Consistency and differentiation hypotheses were partially supported. The additive relationship among congruence, consistency, and…

Meir, Elchanan I.; Segal-Halevi, Anat – Journal of Career Assessment, 2001
Israeli paratroopers (n=267) completed measures of group importance, role satisfaction, vocational interests, and somatic complaints. Group importance correlated with satisfaction and somatic complaints; congruence with environment did not. Congruence interacted with group importance to enhance satisfaction. (Contains 29 references.) (SK)

Feldman, Shoshana; Meir, Elchanan I. – Journal of Vocational Behavior, 1976
A Hebrew interest inventory for females in Israel, based on Holland's vocational classification, was examined on 322 female pupils and 167 working females. Results showed subjects occupied in a field had highest interest scores in that field and the highest interest score was the score of those engaged in that field. (Author)
