Colborn, Theo – International Environmental Affairs, 1991
Data on the health of wildlife in the Great Lakes ecosystem are reviewed. Researchers infer from data on eight species that the effects in offspring are the result of exposure to chlorinated chemicals by adults and passed to the offspring via maternal transfer. Policy implications are discussed. (CW)

Kellert, Stephen R. – Journal of Environmental Education, 1985
Reviews a study's findings on children's (N=267) knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors toward animals and natural habitats. Research results indicate that existence of three stages in the development of children's perceptions of animals. Major differences in age, sex, ethnicity and urban/rural residence were also noted. Nichols, James D. – Bioscience, 1992
Describes advances in capture-recapture modeling, including the biologically motivated emphasis on model-based hypothesis testing and the development of models for spatially stratified populations. Discusses the severe problems associated with count statistics reflecting unknown sampling fractions. (67 references) (KR)

Pomerantz, Gerri – Journal of Environmental Education, 1986
Reports on the results of a study of the effects of a popular children's nature magazine, "Ranger Rick," on increasing children's knowledge of animals and the natural world.
