Gaines, Rosslyn – Developmental Psychology, 1973
Young children were given tasks in which they were to identify small variations in complex patterns. Results indicated the children were able to perform the task more accurately than developmental models would have predicted. (ST)

Wolff, Peter – Journal of Experimental Child Psychology, 1972
Children from 4 to 7 years of age were tested in a structured perceptual task in which haptic manipulation was available, but not required. The extent of haptic involvement with the stimulus material and its effect on performance in a perceptual recognition task was then determined. (Author/CB)
Descriptors: Data Analysis, Pattern Recognition, Perceptual Development, Perceptual Motor Learning
Langstaff, Anne L.; Volkmor, Cara B. – 1971
A model for sequencing tasks in the area of visual perception was developed. This paper reports an attempt to validate the structure of the model. The performance of 50 normal preschool children on a 47 item test was studied. The results obtained support the use of the model as a framework for developing visual perception tasks. (Author)

Thompson, Laura A.; Massaro, Dominic W. – Journal of Experimental Child Psychology, 1986
Investigates the relative influence of speech and pointing gesture information in the interpretation of referential acts among children averaging three and five years of age and adults. (HOD)
