Partners-in-Reading: Using Classroom Assistants To Provide Tutorial Assistance to Struggling First-Grade Readers.
Miller, Samuel D.
Journal of Education for Students Placed at Risk, v8 n3 p333-49 2003
Evaluated the feasibility of using classroom assistants to tutor 1st-grade struggling readers in a school with limited financial and personal resources. Comparison of intervention students, students in traditional tutoring, and control students indicated that, although equivalent at the year's start, both intervention groups outperformed the control group at the end of the year, and students with classroom assistants outperformed the other two groups on reading comprehension.
