Quereshi, M. Y.; Ostrowski, Michael J. – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1985
Administered three Wechsler adult intelligence scales to 72 undergraduates and tested the quality of means, variances, and covariances, utilizing subtest scale scores and IQs. Results indicated that the three scales were not parallel. Generally, the subtest scaled scores exhibited less similarity across the three scales than the IQ estimates.…

Wolk, Steve; Zieziula, Frank R. – American Annals of the Deaf, 1985
Test-retest coefficients computed over a five-year interval for the 1973 edition of the Stanford Achievement Test-Hearing Impaired Version (SAT-HI) generally reflect adequate stability for a national sample of hearing-impaired students. Yet, ethnic background was an important variable influencing stability, specifically for Black students.…

Chambers, William V. – Social Behavior and Personality, 1985
Personal construct psychologists have suggested various psychological functions explain differences in the stability of constructs. Among these functions are constellatory and loose construction. This paper argues that measurement error is a more parsimonious explanation of the differences in construct stability reported in these studies. (Author)

Mehrens, William A. – Journal of Special Education, 1984
The Kaufman Assessment Battery for Children is reviewed with respect to manuals, test construction, and norming procedures; reliability; and validity; evidence administration and scoring procedures; types of scores and interpretative guidelines; and the bias issue. (Author/CL)

Grosse, Martin E.; Wright, Benjamin D. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1985
A model of examinee behavior was used to generate hypotheses about the operation of true-false scores. Confirmation of hypotheses supported the contention that true-false scores contain an error component that makes these tests less reliable than multiple-choice tests. Examinee response style may invalidate a total true-false score. (Author/DWH)

Holden, Ronald R.; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1985
Various person reliability coefficients, including within- and between-occasion consistency measures, were investigated using the test and retest responses of 123 undergraduates on the Basic Personality Inventory (BPI). Results indicate person reliability may be a multidimensional concept, and that certain item consistency measures are confounded…

Salagaras, S.; Nettlebeck, T. – American Journal of Mental Deficiency, 1983
Ratings for 550 mentally retarded adolescents on the American Association of Mental Deficiency Adaptive Behavior Scale (ABS) established the reliability and criterion validity of the ABS and demonstrated sensitivity to variation in behavior between subgroups of mentally retarded students representing differences in seven personal variables…

Salagaras, S.; Nettelbeck, T. – American Journal of Mental Deficiency, 1984
Mentally retarded adult trainees (N=370) at work preparation centers were rated by their supervisors on the Adaptive Behavior Scale (ABS). Results confirmed the reliability and criterion validity of the ABS, demonstrating its sensitivity to differences in adaptive and maladaptive behavior between subgroups representing variation in seven personal…

Gutkin, Terry B.; And Others – Journal of School Psychology, 1984
Performed orthogonal and oblique factor analysis using the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale-Revised (WAIS-R) standardization sample (N=1,880). Analysis of the variance components for each subtest at every age level revealed a substantial proportion of subtests at a wide range of age levels evidenced high or intermediate levels of specific…

Discusses the significance of confidence intervals around IQ scores based on a misleading interpretation of the standard error of measurement terms provided in the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale-Revised (WAIS-R) manual. Presents standard error values and a table for determining the abnormality of verbal and performance IQ discrepancies.…

Shohamy, Elana – Language Learning, 1983
Reports on study in which students of Hebrew as a second language took four versions of oral proficiency test. Results indicate that different speech styles and topics significantly affected students' scores, and correlational analyses between pairs pointed to low reliability and lack of stability of the test. Urges caution in making decisions…
