Participants in two studies were asked to rate the importance of favorite leisure activities in relation to their work. Six dimensions were found in both studies: (1) physical challenge; (2) mental challenge; (3) sensuality; (4) risk; (5) autonomy vs. sociability; and (6) stimulation. (JN)

Examined the relationships among interest and personality inventory responses of (N=275) scientific personnel. Operational replications were performed using two previous interest-personality studies as targets. Canonical correlation analyses indicated that interest-personality domains are related in a logically consistent manner. (RC)

A principal factor analysis was performed on a matrix of correlations amoung measures of field independence, intelligence, and achievement in reading and mathematics. Investigated relationship between locus of control and marital stability of young men. Factors derived from locus of control measures included leadership, personal, and fate scales. The California Entry Level Test (ELT) means are used with demographic variables to predict differences among California schools and districts on subsequent reading achievement tests. Factor analyses resulted in distinct factors for each of the subtests. The validity of the ELT was very high for its intended purpose. (Author/BW)

The six subtests comprising the Metropolitan Readiness Tests were factor analyzed separately for White females, White males, Black females, and Black males. A multitrait-multimethod matrix was computed to compare the descriptions of 10 traits (leisure activities) obtained by using the Leisure Activities Questionnaire (LAQ) and the Paragraphs about Leisure (PAL). In 1976, the Shasta County Schools management staff devised a system to identify the factors of responsibility in management positions and to assign position titles and salaries on this basis.
