Survey responses from 66 adult referrals to a mental health clinic for mentally retarded persons revealed that four diagnostic groupings (schizophrenic symptomatology, antisocial behavior, depression, and personality disorder) accounted for 51 of the 66 referrals. Sociometric nominations were used to select groups of popular, average, rejected, and neglected among 101 third- and 219 fifth-grade children.
