Forty experienced and inexperienced teachers, twenty male and twenty female, were observed in preschool classes to determine (1) what determines differential responses to boys and girls with regard to sex-preferred behaviors, and (2) whether male and female teachers differ in their teaching styles. Factor analysis of the Good Citizen Role Inventory Scale showed that father's occupation, civics scores, and student's expected occupation were more correlated with good citizen roles than affective or background factors. Belgian students could not describe a good citizen role, but they emphasized active roles more than other students. (CP)
