Over 400 bilingual Hispanic students in grades four and five took the same mathematics achievement test in Spanish and English. Students performed better when tested in English than in Spanish and when tested on concepts than on applications. (MNS)

The Mooney Problem Checklist (College Form) was administered to 239 female associate degree nursing students in four southwestern colleges. Results showed all women college students experienced problems. Concentration should be on enhancement of cognitive development rather than on problems which may appear to be unique to an ethnic group. (BRR)

Comparisons of the PPVT-R, the PPVT, and placement IQ tests were made with 114 educable mentally retarded students, 46 White, 44 Black, and 24 Hispanic. The PPVT and PPVT-R correlated for all groups, but neither the PPVT nor PPVT-R, correlated to a significant degree with the placement IQ tests. (Author/RC)
