Participation of 1,715 fourth-grade students in family outing activities was compared across three racial groups and used to predict reading and math achievement. Teachers' ratings of 56 Hispanic, 56 Black, and 56 White elementary students using the Teacher Checklist of School Behavior showed Hispanics' behavior was rated less favorably than others. Interviews with 634 Hispanics living in California's San Francisco Bay Area provided data on their drinking patterns by sex, age, income, education, marital status, occupation, and religion.
