Although a review of the literature on the instructional role of the media specialists reveals a pattern of progression from 1950 to 1984, analysis of the research in this area indicates a time lag between actual practice and the instructional role espoused by the standards and the literature. The study sought to determine how integrating science and mathematics in a seventh-grade physics unit affected attitudes and achievement in science. Two above-average and two average classes were involved. Scientific attitudes of the average integrated group improved, as did achievement of the above-average integrated group. (MNS)

Examines how differences in the cognitive levels of 60 pre-service teachers influenced the way they perceived and interpreted their teaching competency. Results showed that students of higher cognitive ability set higher standards for their teaching performance, and thus were more critical in their self-evaluations. (TRS)
