A study compared the family needs and sources of support as perceived by 55 Puerto Rican mothers of young children with disabilities residing in Puerto Rico and 39 of their counterparts living in Florida. Mothers in Puerto Rico perceived significantly more sources of support than did mothers in Florida. (Author/CR)

The impact of race/ethnicity on depressed mood among adolescents and whether pubertal development influences depressed mood was studied with 877 adolescents, 728 mothers, and 447 fathers. Latino adolescents reported more symptoms of depressed mood, a finding independent of socioeconomic status. Effects of puberty are discussed. (SLD)
