Rogers, W. Todd – B. C. Journal of Special Education, 1983
The use of separate answer sheets on the reliability of measurement and the level of performance of 156 severely hearing impaired and deaf students, 8 to 10 years of age and older, was examined. Analyses revealed no differential impact attributable to the two modes upon reliability and level of performance. (Author/CL)
Descriptors: Deafness, Elementary Secondary Education, Test Reliability, Testing
Westling, David L.; And Others – Education and Training of the Mentally Retarded, 1981
Eleven profoundly retarded residents (12 to 21 years old) of an institution for the mentally retarded were rated on the Topeka Association for Retarded Citizens (TARC) Assessment System by three independent observers. The analyses indicated low levels of agreement on several sections of the scale. (Author)
Descriptors: Evaluation Methods, Severe Mental Retardation, Test Reliability
Peer reviewedMorrison, Donald G. – Psychometrika, 1981
A simple stochastic model is formulated in order to determine the optimal time between the first test and the second test when the test-retest method of assessing reliability is used. A forgetting process and a change in true score process are postulated. Some numerical examples and suggestions are presented. (Author/JKS)
Descriptors: Correlation, Test Reliability, Test Theory, True Scores
Peer reviewedMurray, Greg; Rawlings, David; Allen, Nicholas B.; Trinder, John – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2003
Psychometric analysis of scores from the NEO Five-Factor Inventory (NEO-FFI) confirmed their internal and test-retest reliability in an Australian adult sample. The data also provided support for the internal and temporal reliability of scores derived from 13 lower order item clusters identified in the NEO-FFI. (Contains 25 references and 4…

Peer reviewedKrus, David J.; Blackman, Harold S. – Applied Measurement in Education, 1988
Test homogeneity and internal consistency reliability indices were developed on the basis of theoretical considerations of properties of hierarchical structures of data matrices. This reconceptualization, in terms of ordinal test theory, has potential for explication of the mutual relationship of test reliability and homogeneity. (TJH)

Peer reviewedBolton, Brian – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 1988
Examined reliability of United States Employment Service Interest Inventory (USES-II) by twice administering USES-II to 100 vocational rehabilitation clients. Retest reliability coefficients for the 12 scales of the USES-II ranged from .73 to .88 with a median of .83 for this population. Findings support use of USES-II in occupational exploration…

Peer reviewedLester, David – Omega: Journal of Death and Dying, 1991
Published Lester Attitude toward Death Scale for first time, together with data on its reliability and validity. Notes that scale is different from other fear of death scales in its use of scaled value approach that permits measure of inconsistency in attitudes. (Author)
Descriptors: Attitude Measures, Death, Test Reliability, Test Validity
Peer reviewedNichols, Paul; Kuehl, Barbara Jean – Applied Measurement in Education, 1999
An approach is presented that can predict internal consistency of cognitively complex assessments on two dimensions, those of adding tasks with similar or different solution strategies and adding test takers with different solution strategies. Data from the 1992 National Assessment of Educational Progress mathematics assessment are used to…

Peer reviewedBuboltz, Walter C., Jr.; Thomas, Adrian; Donnell, Alison J. – Journal of Counseling & Development, 2002
Psychological reactance is an important construct for social scientists. The measure most often used to tap psychological reactance is the Therapeutic Reactance Scale (TRS). However, little research to date has examined the psychometric properties of the TRS. Eight hundred and eighty-three individuals completed the TRS and their responses were…

Hall, Kendra M.; Markham, Janet C.; Culatta, Barbara – Communication Disorders Quarterly, 2005
In the present study, the authors investigated the initial development of the Early Expository Comprehension Assessment (EECA) by examining its reliability. The EECA consists of a compare/contrast passage, manipulatives to represent the information in the paragraph, and three response tasks ("Retelling, Mapping, and Comparing"). The authors…

Mellor, David – Psychological Assessment, 2004
A sample of 917 children, aged 7 to 17 years, their parents, and their teachers each completed the appropriate version of the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ), and 120 from each group did so again 2 weeks later. The results indicate that the SDQ demonstrates sound interinformant and test-retest reliability. Younger children, whose…
