Tidball, Charles S. – Physiologist, 1979
Presents the physiological MACPEE, one of a family of digital computer simulations used in Canada and Great Britain. A general description of the model is provided, along with a sample of computer output format, options for making interventions, advanced capabilities, an evaluation, and technical information for running a MAC model. Buvari, A. – Physics Education, 1977
Describes the use of images on an overhead projector to explain concepts like centrifugal force and Cariolis force in such a way that students can realize that they are pseudo-forces, i.e., observations arising only from referring phenomena to an accelerating reference system. (MLH)

Moore, John W.; Moore, Elizabeth – Science Teacher, 1977
Discusses computer simulation approach of Limits to Growth, in which interactions of five variables (population, pollution, resources, food per capita, and industrial output per capita) indicate status of the world. Reviews other books that predict future of the world. (CS)

Tamminga, Harriet L. – Teaching Sociology, 1977
Identifies three aspects of moral education and discusses the role of gaming-simulation in each. The decision to use gaming represents a concern for educating morally. Use of gaming to teach moral values is discussed and it is suggested that gaming may be used for values analysis and clarification. (Author/JR)

Fink, Albert H.; Brownsmith, Keith – Improving Human Performance Quarterly, 1975
Describes a semester-length course in the management of the behaviorally disordered, based on the use of simulation and roleplaying. Includes evaluation and results. (Author/LS)

Kaufman, Frank L. – Journal of Educational Data Processing, 1976
The evidence indicates that a computer-based business game in the policy course is useful to the teacher, the student, and the graduate on the job. (Author)

Williams, R. J.; Beaujean, D. A. – Aspects of Educational and Training Technology Series, 1992
Syndicate studies simulate industrial situations and have proved to be an effective and adaptable small-group teaching strategy in electrical and electronic engineering classes. Outlines a planning exercise for surface mounted technology: aim, execution, company management, and tasks; provides examples of a meeting agenda; workshop discussion…

Tomasic, Anthony; Garcia-Molina, Hector – Information Processing & Management, 1996
Studies an information retrieval system for bibliographic entries or abstracts using queries from the INSPEC database on the FOLIO system at Stanford University (California). Highlights include strategies for distributing indexes across a set of processors and for performing queries in parallel; inverted lists; simulations; local area networks;…

Moore, Paul – Australian Journal of Educational Technology, 1995
Surveys the research into virtual reality (VR) and focuses on the implications of immersive virtual worlds for learning and teaching. Topics include how VR differs from other forms of interactive multimedia, VR and the development of educational theory and methodology, and case studies in educational VR research. (Author/LRW)

Long, G. A. – Journal of Chemical Education, 1995
Describes a project that uses a multidisciplinary approach to problem solving in analyzing a crime scene and suspect evidence. Requires each student to work effectively in a team, communicate in both written and oral forms, perform hands-on laboratory manipulations, and realize that the entire class was depending on their individual contributions…

Lotz, A. – Journal of Chemical Education, 1995
Describes an experiment from a physical chemistry course that consists of a computer simulation of throwing dice and the statistics involved. The experiment is designed to improve students' understanding of statistical evaluation of experimental data and to introduce programming techniques. (DDR)

Chan, Wai; Bentler, Peter M. – Multivariate Behavioral Research, 1996
A method is proposed for partially analyzing additive ipsative data (PAID). Transforming the PAID according to a developed equation preserves the density of the transformed data, and maximum likelihood estimation can be carried out as usual. Simulation results show that the original structural parameters can be accurately estimated from PAID. (SLD)

You, Soon-Hyung; Stone-Romero, Eugene F. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1996
To clarify the findings of R. Gillett (1991) about the inequality of the means of test scores of minority and majority examinees, the standard errors of the quota-selected sample means and the sampling distribution of these means were studied through Monte Carlo simulation. Results explain that the quota selection inequality results from…
