Bertram, Francis D.; And Others – Multiple Linear Regression Viewpoints, 1979
The purpose of this study was to use multivariate techniques in a federally-regulated validation study, and compare the results obtained from zero-order correlations and multiple correlations with the results obtained using factor scores and canonical correlation. The subjects consisted of 51 applicants for the position of patrolman. (Author/CTM)

Kundel, Susan E. – Adult Literacy and Basic Education, 1979
The American College Testing Program sought to determine whether metric education for adult consumers would result in more positive attitudes to metric conversion. Examining preopinion, pretest, posttest, post-opinion, and background data, the researchers found that simply teaching adults how to use the metric system does not significantly affect…

White, Linnea C. – Personnel and Guidance Journal, 1980
Counselor educators rated the importance of selected student behaviors in their evaluation of graduate students. Ten dimensions emerged. Counselor educators, self-identified with four theoretical orientations, differed significantly in their valuation of eight of the ten dimensions. (Author)

Favero, Jane; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1979
For a sample of 152 children in grades 2 to 6, interest centered upon concurrent validity of measures of empathy and social sensitivity as conceptualized within the behavioral segment of Guilford's structure-of-intellect model and a criterion measure represented by a standardized test of academic performance. Clarizio, Harvey; Bernard, Robert – Psychology in the Schools, 1981
Analyzed WISC-R profiles along a three-factor approach for purposes of differential diagnosis. Profiles of 278 school-verified learning disabled children were compared to those of Educable Mentally Impaired (N=141), Emotionally Impaired (N=67), Otherwise Impaired (N=61), and Nonimpaired (N=294). Resulting data was not useful in differential…

Pflaster, Gail – Volta Review, 1981
Eleven oblique (correlated) factors were identified from an analysis of 182 mainstreamed hearing impaired students (grades 1 through 12). Two central factors were pinpointed: communicative attitude and receptive language. (CL)

Morris, John D. – American Educational Research Journal, 1979
Computer-based Monte Carlo methods compared the predictive accuracy upon replication of regression of five complete and four incomplete factor score estimation methods. Prediction on incomplete factor scores showed better double cross-validated prediction accuracy than on complete scores. The unique unit-weighted factor score was superior among…

Swassing, Ray – Journal of Experimental Education, 1978
A Wherry-Wherry hierarchical factor solution was obtained on the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS) subtest performance of 100 adolescent retardates. The hierarchical arrangement of abilities obtained was consistent with Vernon's model of cognitive structure and previous reports. A g-factor and two major group factors were evident.…

Bailey, Kent G.; Federman, Edward J. – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1979
The purpose of this research was to further study the breadth and depth dimensions of the WAIS similarities and vocabulary subscales by factor analyzing several measures of intelligence: a comprehension index, SAT scores, and grade point average (GPA). (Author/SJL)

Reilly, Richard R. – American Educational Research Journal, 1976
Using critical incidents, faculty ratings of graduate student performance in departments of chemistry, English, and psychology were collected. Separate factor analyses in each field produced eight fairly consistent factors with respect to item loadings across fields. Faculty ratings of each incident with respect to its importance for success were…

Diareme, Stavroula; Tsiantis, John; Tsitoura, Stella – Child Abuse & Neglect: The International Journal, 1997
Greek parents (N=320) were given the Child Abuse Potential (CAP) Inventory and results were compared with American scores. Internal consistency reliability was high for four scales (abuse, distress, rigidity, and inconsistency). The Greek and American versions had similar factorial structures. Comparison found that Greek scores were significantly…
