Peer reviewedWoehlke, Paula; Ohara, Takeshi – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1980
To assess the stability of the factor structure of the Instructional Improvement Questionnaire (IIQ), factor analyses were run for 1973, 1974, and 1975 results, partialling out three variables: expected grade, percent taking the course as an elective, and student's year. The factors were stable over the three years. (Author/BW)

Peer reviewedKrus, Patricia H.; And Others – Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1981
The purpose of this study was to investigate the structure of motor proficiency in a sample of 765 children between the ages of 4 1/2 to 14 1/2 years. The study was conducted as one aspect of the standardization of a motor proficiency scale, the Bruininks-Oseretsky Test of Motor Proficiency. (Author/SJL)
Descriptors: Adolescents, Children, Factor Structure, Motor Development
Peer reviewedGlutting, Joseph J.; Youngstrom, Eric A.; Ward, Thomas; Ward, Sandra; Hale, Robert L. – Psychological Assessment, 1997
The incremental validity of factor scores from the Wechlser Intelligence Scale for Children-III (WISC-III) in predicting scores on the Wechsler Individual Achievement Test (WIAT) was studied in 283 nonreferred children and 636 referred for evaluation. The Full Scale IQ of the WISC-III was the best predictor of WIAT achievement. (SLD)
Descriptors: Children, Factor Analysis, Factor Structure, Intelligence Quotient
Peer reviewedRahim, M. Afzalur; Magner, Nace R. – Multivariate Behavioral Research, 1996
Results of confirmatory factor analysis of data from 5 samples (308 financial professionals, 578 employees, 588 management students, 728 employees in South Korea, and 250 employees in Bangladesh) support the convergent and discriminant validities of subscales of the Leader Power Inventory (M. A. Rahim, 1988). (SLD)
Descriptors: Employees, Factor Structure, Foreign Countries, Leadership
Peer reviewedFava, Joseph L.; Velicer, Wayne F. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1996
The consequences of underextracting factors and components within and between the methods of maximum likelihood factor analysis and principal components analysis were examined through computer simulation. The principal components score and the factor score estimate (T. W. Anderson and H. Rubin, 1956) tended to become different with…

Peer reviewedBauman, Sheri; Merta, Rod J.; Steiner, Robert – Journal of Child and Adolescent Substance Abuse, 2001
Describes the initial development and validation of an adolescent-specific multi-dimensional scale to measure motivation to change related to substance use. Preliminary psychometric findings reveal adequate internal consistency and a factor structure corresponding to the inventory's subscales. Implications for future research and for practice are…

Peer reviewedTirre, William C.; Field, Kevin A. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 2002
Studied the constructs underlying the Ball Aptitude Battery (Ball Foundation; BAB) in 3 studies involving 329 and 365 adults and 175 ninth graders and in a reanalysis (study 4) of previous BAB data. Results show that "g" plays a significant but not dominant role in the BAB, which measures abilities needed for assessing person-job fit.…

Peer reviewedMaesschalck, Christine; Vertommen, Hans; Hooghe, An – International Journal of Testing, 2002
Administered the Dutch adaptation of the Psychopathic Personality Inventory (R. Lilienfeld and B. Andrews, 1996) to 314 adults in Flanders and studied the factorial structure and scale characteristics. Results support the usefulness of the instrument. (SLD)
Descriptors: Adults, Dutch, Factor Structure, Foreign Countries
Peer reviewedBecker, Thomas E.; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1997
Three attachment style scales were developed. The factor structure of the attachment style construct was supported through exploratory factor analysis of attachment style scores from 1,181 and 545 recent college graduates. Additional evidence for score validity is presented, based on a measure of the Big Five personality traits. (SLD)
Descriptors: Attachment Behavior, College Graduates, Factor Structure, Higher Education
Peer reviewedEmbretson, Susan E. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1997
Four studies of the factorial validity of the Spatial Learning Ability Test (SLAT), involving 431 undergraduates, were summarized to elaborate nomothetic span. These studies support the SLAT as a spatial processing measure. The SLAT, compared to a test with the same item type, was a more pure measure of spatial ability. (SLD)

Peer reviewedCampbell, Todd; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1997
The construct validity of scores from the Bem Sex-Role Inventory was studied using confirmatory factor analysis methods on data from 791 subjects. Measurement characteristics of the long and short forms were studied, with the short form yielding more reliable scores, as has previously been indicated. (Author/SLD)

Peer reviewedAxelrod, Bradley N.; And Others – Psychological Assessment, 1996
The underlying structure of the Postconcussion Syndrome Questionnaire (PCS) was evaluated in a large sample of 1,116 medical and psychiatric patients. Balancing internal consistency, confirmatory factor analysis, and parsimony results in endorsement of the four-factor solution for the PCS for this sample. (SLD)
Descriptors: Adults, Evaluation Methods, Factor Structure, Head Injuries
Peer reviewedSamuelstuen, Marit S. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 2002
Examined whether the Learning and Study Strategies Inventory-High School Version (LASSI-HS; C. Weinstein and D. Palmer, 1990) would yield reliable and valid scores in a Norwegian translation with Norwegian students. Results for 271 10th graders support the factor model proposed by B. Olaussen and I. Braten (1998). (SLD)

Peer reviewedPonterotto, Joseph G.; Gretchen, Denise; Utsey, Shawn O.; Stacuzzi, Thomas; Saya, Robert, Jr. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 2002
Studied the psychometric strengths of the Multigroup Ethnic Identity Measure (J. Phinney, 1992) through a review of 12 studies using this measure, a confirmatory factor analysis of the measure (n=219 high school students), and a readability analysis. Findings show Phinney's two-factor model is a better fit than a global model. (SLD)

Peer reviewedKush, Joseph C.; Watkins, Marley W.; Ward, Thomas J.; Ward, Sandra B.; Canivez, Gary L.; Worrell, Frank C. – School Psychology Review, 2001
Uses both exploratory (EFA) and confirmatory factor analyses (CFA) to examine the factor structure of the WISC-III among White and Black students from the WISC-III standardization sample and a sample of 348 Black students referred for psychological evaluation. Results of the EFA provided evidence of a large first principal factor as well as the…
