Cunningham, Walter R. – Intelligence, 1980
The generality of ability factor structure in adulthood and old age was investigated. Data were analyzed for 198 young individuals (15-32 years), 156 younger old individuals (53-68 years), and 156 older old individuals (69-91). Variables were nine tests marking three ability factors. (Author/CTM)

Thompson, Bruce; Stapleton, James C. – Journal of Experimental Education, 1979
This paper presents a method which can be used to obtain evidence that the concepts rated on semantic differential scales are appropriate for given study. An analysis of six semantic differential concepts, as perceived by 168 graduate education students, is presented; variations of the method are discussed. (Author/GSK)

Andrich, David; And Others – Journal of Experimental Education, 1979
The conceptualization of teacher role has led to the six-factor Role Dimension Profile Scale. When responses to the scale used with a Likert data collection format are analyzed, the resulting single dimension is interpreted as the teacher's "professional horizon." Implications of these results are discussed. (Author/GSK)

Mahoney, John; And Others – Sex Roles: A Journal of Research, 1979
This study examines the organization of male and female college students' values. The relationship between different value structures and attitudes toward women's liberation are discussed. (BE)

Ward, L. Charles; Selby, Rosemary B. – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1979
A regression equation relating verbal and full-scale IQs was derived from scores of patients. Scores were highly correlated, and verbal IQ significantly exceeded full-scale IQ. Regression estimates closely estimated mean full-scale IQ, suggesting that the verbal scale serves effectively as a WAIS abbreviation. (Author)

Donders, Jacques – Assessment, 1997
The criterion validity of the factor index scores of the third edition of the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC-III) was evaluated in a sample of 88 children with traumatic head injury. Only the Perceptual Organization and Processing Speed scores demonstrated acceptable sensitivity to injury severity for evaluation use. (SLD)

Johnson, William L.; Johnson, Annabel M.; Gott, Richard; Zimmerman, Kurt – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1997
The factor structure of the Charles F. Kettering Climate Scale, a measure of educational environment, was studied with 351 junior high school students on 2 school campuses. Primary and secondary factor structures are reported, as are the Cronbach alpha reliability measures for scores on the second-order structures. (SLD)

Vandewalle, Don – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1997
The development and validation of an instrument to assess goal orientation for the work domain are reported. Results of exploratory factor analysis, reliability analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, and nomological network analysis of results from 556 undergraduates all support the conclusion that the instrument operationalizes the theorized…

Clark, Lee Anna; And Others – Psychological Assessment, 1996
Two samples of normal-range individuals (n=237) completed the Schedule for Nonadaptive and Adaptive Personality and the Dimensional Assessment of Personality Pathology-Basic Questionnaire, each assessing traits relevant to personality disorder. Convergence between the instruments and results support a replicable structure of maladaptive…

Donders, Jacques – Psychological Assessment, 1996
Representative profile subtypes were examined in the standardization sample (2200 children) of the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-Third Edition (WISC-III). Two-stage cluster analysis identified five reliable subtypes. A method for determining the relative uniqueness of clinically obtained WISC-III factor index score patterns is…

Babcock, Renee L.; Laguna, Kerrie – Studies in Educational Evaluation, 1997
The Educational Testing Service Kit of Factor-Referenced Cognitive Tests contains 72 tests that are supposed to be markers of 23 latent cognitive constructs. Examination of the factor structure of four of these tests with 165 undergraduates suggests caution in using the measures as markers of distinct factors. (SLD)

Thomas, Adrian; Palmer, Jerry K.; Coker-Juneau, Carla J.; Williams, David J. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 2002
Investigated the psychometric properties of the Interaction with Disabled Persons Scale (IDP; L. Gething, 1991). Exploratory factor analysis with 358 undergraduates and confirmatory factor analysis with a sample of 272 undergraduates suggest that the IDP may provide a reasonable measurement of multidimensional attitudes toward individuals with…

Melancon, Janet G. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 2002
Studied the reliability, structure, and criterion-related validity of the Learning and Study Strategies Inventory (LASSI; C. Weinstein, 1987) using data from 502 university students. Results suggest that the LASSI may not measure the postulated 10 scales typically used to report results. (SLD)

Schofield, Margot J.; Mishra, Gita D. – Gerontologist, 2003
Examines the reliability and validity of the Vulnerability to Abuse Screening Scale (VASS) for the early identification of elder abuse. Results confirmed the VASS factor structure and construct validity. The Vulnerability and Coercion factors held the strongest face and construct validity for physical and psychological abuse. (Contains 52…

Reynolds, Cecil R.; And Others – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 1988
Investigated factor structure of the Stanford-Binet Fourth Edition using collaboration matrix from the standardization sample of 1,695 children aged 2 through 6 years, 1,586 children aged 7 through 11 years, and 1,728 participants aged 12 through 23 years. The results revealed the large first factor that resembled general intelligence, with little…
