Kranzler, John H.; Jensen, Arthur R. – Intelligence, 1991
This study investigated whether a unitary elemental process or several independent processes underlie psychometric "g" (factor of general intelligence). Results with 101 college students administered 2 intelligence tests and a large battery of elementary cognitive tasks suggest that as many as 4 independent components make up…

Hoyle, Rick H.; Lennox, Richard D. – Multivariate Behavioral Research, 1991
The latent structure of the Self-Monitoring Scale of M. Snyder (1974) is evaluated by comparing several measurement models suggested by previous factor analysis of the scale using sample data from 1,113 college students. Implications of results are discussed in relation to self-monitoring and the use of factor analysis. (SLD)

Boyle, Gregory J. – Psychological Test Bulletin, 1990
Research relating to the factor structure of the Sixteen Personality Factor Questionnaire (16PF) and the Clinical Analysis Questionnaire is reviewed. Different opinions about the factors measured by the 16PF are discussed. Focusing on the second-order factor level could eliminate problems with the instruments' reliability. (SLD)

Bullock, Lyndal M.; And Others – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 1990
Investigated whether factor structures of Behavior Dimensions Rating Scale for behaviorally disordered students (n=417) were invariant across elementary and secondary grade levels. The findings that behavioral subscales for behavior disordered students in grades K-5 and grades 6-11 were structurally invariant do not support need for using separate…

Maller, Susan J.; Konold, Timothy R.; Glutting, Joseph J. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1998
Whether the measurement of intelligence by the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children III (WISC-III) differs for children who exhibit inappropriate test-taking behavior was studied empirically with 247 inappropriate behavior and 515 appropriate behavior children. Results suggest that the factor index and full-scale IQ may have different meanings…

Bell-Dolan, Debora J.; Allan, Wesley D. – Psychological Assessment, 1998
The assertion by J. Matson (1990) that the Teacher Version of the Matson Evaluation of Social Skills with Youngsters (MESSY) can also be used with parents was studied with parents and teachers of 179 children. The parent-completed MESSY does not show a particularly stable factor structure and is not highly related to teacher reports. (SLD)

Jackson, Dennis L.; Teal, Cayla R.; Raines, Susan J.; Nansel, Tonja R.; Burdsal, Charles S.; Force, Ronald C. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1999
Used confirmatory factor analysis to assess the fit of the original solution of the Student's Perception of Teaching Effectiveness questionnaire (C. Burdsal and J. Bardo, 1986) to a sample of more than 7,000 university classes. Analyses provide a clear interpretation of six first-order and two second-order dimensions of instructional quality. (SLD)

Darkes, Jack; Greenbaum, Paul E.; Goldman, Mark S. – Psychological Assessment, 1998
Used structural equation modeling to examine factor structure and predictive validity of the Disinhibition subscale of the Sensation Seeking Scales (DIS) with drinking in 1,217 undergraduates. A three-factor model provided the best fit; prediction of drinking varied with intrinsic levels of alcohol relatedness. The relationship between…

Thompson, Bruce; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1996
The construct validity of scores on the Behavior Rating Scale of the revised Bayley Scales of Infant Development was studied with national standardization samples of children ranging from 1 to 42 months and a variety of factor analytic methods. The factor structure became more complex at older ages. (SLD)

Berglund, Lars – Scandinavian Journal of Educational Research, 1999
Analyzed the data from the Rutter Children's Behaviour Questionnaire (M. Rutter, 1967) from 450 Swedish children in grades 2, 5, and 8 using latent variable analysis. Findings show a structure described by a nested hierarchical model with seven first order factors. Some items have rather weak relations to their latent factors. (SLD)

Clarebout, Geraldine; Elen, Jan; Luyten, Lieve; Bamps, Hadewych – Educational Research and Evaluation: An International Journal on Theory and Practice, 2001
Reviewed the literature on the questionnaire developed by M. Schommer to assess epistemological beliefs and studied the factor structure of the questionnaire in 2 studies involving 117 junior college students and 148 university students. In neither study could Schommer's factor structure be retrieved. Results reveal counter-indications to the use…

Obst, Patricia L.; White, Katherine M. – Journal of Community Psychology, 2004
The Sense of Community Index (SCI) is one of the most commonly used measures of Psychological Sense of Community (PSOC). There is much discussion in the literature as to the validity of the scale as a measure not only of overall PSOC, but also of the dimensions (Membership, Influence, Needs Fulfillment, and Emotional Connection) theorized by…

Purpose: This study describes the development of a short version of the Expectations Regarding Aging Survey (ERA-38), a 38-item survey measuring expectations regarding aging. Design and Methods: In 1999, surveys containing the ERA-38 were mailed to 588 adults aged [greater than or equal to] 65 years who were recruited through physicians; 429…

Gelin, Michaela N.; Carleton, Bruce C.; Smith, M. Anne; Zumbo, Bruno D. – Social Indicators Research, 2004
The present study investigated the factor structure and item analysis of the Mini Asthma Quality of Life Questionnaire (MiniAQLQ) in a sample of 258 community-dwelling asthmatic adults between the ages of 16 and 87 years. The mean age was 56 years for males (N = 99) and 50 years for females (N = 159). This study compared the fit of three factor…

Lee Van Horn, M.; Ramey, S.L. – Early Childhood Research Quarterly, 2004
This study examines the psychometric properties of an observer measure of developmentally appropriate practices (DAP) for early elementary school classrooms, known as A Developmentally Appropriate Practices Template (ADAPT). Using a sample of 854-1511 first through third grade classrooms in 207-295 schools across 3 years, the study evaluates the…
