This paper discusses the career of Henry Evelyn Bliss, founder of the Bibliographic Classification, which is currently being revised. Dills, Charles R.; Romiszowski, Alexander – 1990
This paper describes a four-dimensional model for the science of knowledge acquisition and a classification system in terms of these dimensions. A summary of the state of the art in terms of the cells generated in a four-dimensional representation of this classification system is presented. The need for better tools for conducting knowledge…

Eimas, Peter D.; And Others – 1993
Previous research has shown that 3- to 4-month-old infants form a global categorical representation for cats that includes female lions, whereas 6- to 7-month-old infants differentiate between cats and lions. Three experiments using familiarization-novelty preference procedures attempted to determine whether the differentiation of a global…

The importance of man's relationship to time has been widely recognized in psychology. However, ideas about how the subject should be defined and studied have varied greatly. Infants' responses to male and female faces and their preferences for happy versus fearful faces were studied to extend findings indicating that infants at 7 months can generalize discrimination between expressions of happiness and surprise across four different female models' faces. In the first experiment, a paired-comparison procedure was used…

Strutt, George F.; And Others – Journal of Experimental Child Psychology, 1975
This study examined how well subjects of different ages were able to ignore the presence of irrelevant stimulus information. The speed of classification of 6-, 9- and 12-year-olds and adults was measured. Significant effects of age, sex, number of irrelevant dimensions, and relevant dimension on speed of classification were obtained. (GO)

Williamson, David M.; Bejar, Isaac I.; Sax, Anne – ETS Research Report Series, 2004
As automated scoring of complex constructed-response examinations reaches operational status, the process of evaluating the quality of resultant scores, particularly in contrast to scores of expert human graders, becomes as complex as the data itself.
