Critiqued and reanalyzed a recent study of the validity of five Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) alcoholism scales. One hundred undergraduates learned lists of high- or low-imagery nouns in one column (ungrouped) or in three columns (grouped). Grouped-list recall was significantly greater than ungrouped on the third and fourth trials. Seven- and eight-year-old children were given two memory trials on each of five consecutive days.
