Findings suggest that state anxiety and trait anxiety are cognitively and experientially differentiated constructs. Black and white subjects (N=80) of both sexes completed the Budner Intolerance of Ambiguity Scale and Hogan Scale for Empathy. Data from the standardization sample for the revised BSAG were submitted to principal components factor analysis with varimax rotation of significant factors. Graduate students rated counseling interviews using the Broverman Sex-Role Stereotype Questionnaire. Client sex was one factor and counselor sex was the other.
