Nordmark, Staffan – VTI Rapport, 1984
This report contains a theoretical model for describing the motion of a passenger car. The simulation program based on this model is used in conjunction with an advanced driving simulator and run in real time. The mathematical model is complete in the sense that the dynamics of the engine, transmission and steering system is described in some…

Kirkup, L. – Physics Education, 1986
Describes the implementation of a computer simulation of magnetic field lines. Discusses properties of magnetic fields and the calculation of magnetic fields at points. Provides a program listing (additional programs and teaching notes available from the author) and gives examples of several field plots. (JM)

Gerson, Charles W. – Journal of Educational Technology Systems, 1997
Situation awareness is defined as an evaluative product based on expert performance criteria. This article examines the importance of training simulation systems in developing situation awareness, focusing on high fidelity procedural training, expert knowledge and experience, and attitude and emotional state. Discusses other related issues. (68…

Farber, Irvin J. – 1970
A program was designed to allow key research, planning, and instructional personnel of the School District of Philadelphia to begin exploring the usefulness of simulation for planning purposes in the school system. Twenty-nine school district personnel participated in a city model game in which members of the several sectors of the "city" interact…

Calvert, Donald E. – Training Develop J, 1970
The value of simulation through management games depends on realism, timely feedback, a balance between simplicity and sophistication, and the trainer's own ingenuity and initiative. (LY)

Dimitriadou, Evgenia; Dolnicar, Sara; Weingessel, Andreas – Psychometrika, 2002
Explored the problem of choosing the correct number of clusters in cluster analysis of high dimensional empirical binary data. Findings from a simulation that included 162 binary data sets resulted in recommendations about the number of clusters for each index under consideration. Compared and analyzed the performance of index results. (SLD)

Lazraq, Aziz; Cleroux, Robert – Psychometrika, 2002
Studied the interrelationships between two sets of data measured on the same subjects via redundancy analysis in a simulation study. Under the hypothesis of multinormality, obtained tests of significance for each successive redundancy component so that only the significant factors are retained for prediction purposes. (SLD)

Green, Samuel B.; Thompson, Marilyn S.; Poirer, Jennifer – Structural Equation Modeling, 2001
Presented and evaluated an adjusted Bonferroni method for controlling familywise rate when deleting parameters in specification addition searches. Simulation results show that the adjusted Bonferroni method controlled adequately for Type I errors in the initial addition stage of a two-stage search and with backward selection. (SLD)

Papanastasiou, Elena C. – Educational Research and Evaluation, 2005
Permitting item review is to the benefit of the examinees who typically increase their test scores with item review. However, testing companies do not prefer item review since it does not follow the logic on which adaptive tests are based, and since it is prone to cheating strategies. Consequently, item review is not permitted in many adaptive…

Andrews, Sandra Sutton; Stokrocki, Mary; Jannasch-Pennell, Angel; DiGangi, Samuel A. – International Journal of Virtual and Personal Learning Environments, 2010
In this qualitative pilot study, the authors report on curriculum field trials within a personal learning environment (PLE) designed by a collaboration of academic researchers and nonprofit volunteers working together in the virtual world of Second Life. The purpose of the PLE is to provide learners less likely to have access to educational…

Doyle, John Kevin – American Journal of Business Education, 2010
Critical Chains project management focuses on holding buffers at the project level vs. task level, and managing buffers as a project resource. A number of studies have shown that Critical Chain project management can significantly improve organizational schedule fidelity (i.e., improve the proportion of projects delivered on time) and reduce…
