Kirsner, Kim – Journal of Experimental Psychology, 1972
Results showed that naming latency, for both letters and words, is sensitive to the number of items in the preceding list and also to the serial location of the probe item in the list. (Author)

Frost, Nancy – Journal of Experimental Psychology, 1972
It was concluded that pictures are encoded differently depending on task expectation. Parallel access of visual and semantic memory codes occurs; but when recognition is expected, a visual cue provides faster access, and when expecting recall, verbal access is more efficient. (Author)
Descriptors: Cluster Grouping, Data Analysis, Expectation, Information Retrieval
Klatzky, Robert L.; Smith, Edward E. – Journal of Experimental Psychology, 1972
Results indicate that Ss expectancy for a given test stimulus probability, has its effect on the encoding or decision stage of the memory-scanning process. (Authors)
Descriptors: Cognitive Processes, Expectation, Information Retrieval, Memory
Gartman, Linda M.; Johnson, Neal F. – Journal of Verbal Learning and Verbal Behavior, 1972
Study based on a master's thesis submitted by L. Gartman to Ohio State University. (VM)
Descriptors: Cues, Experiments, Information Processing, Information Retrieval
Feather, N. T. – J Personality Soc Psychol, 1969
Presents research which shows that under standardized conditions of free recall, subjects report arguments more consistent with their attitudes than inconsistent. (MB)

Descriptors: Behavior Patterns, Behavior Theories, Behavioral Science Research, College Students
McCulloch, Warren S. – Educ Sci Int J, 1969
The differences among children, adolescents, and adults with respect to concept formation and learning processes and speed are discussed. (CK)

Labercane, G. D.; Armstrong, R. D. – Alberta J Educ Res, 1969
The relationship between socioeconomic status and both recognition and recall vocabularies of upper elementary school children was studied. (CK)

Bernstein, Alan; Luria, Zella – Child Development, 1972
Results are discussed in terms of possible perceptual and mnemonic devices used for recall. (Authors)

Anderson, John R.; Bower, Gordon H. – Psychological Review, 1972
Article describes two processes in free recall: a retrieval process and a recognition process. Experiments confirmed the predicted dissociation of recognition and retrieval. (Author/ML)
